Clausing 15" Drill Press, Replaced motor & spindle bearings! Production Table!. Condition is "Seller refurbished".
3/4 HP, 1140RPM, set up for 115V
Looks like it used to be owned by Motorola at one point!
I bought this drill press in sorry shape, and have taken care of it and nursed it back to good health. When I got it, the motor and spindle were running out and the belt guard was dented. I bought a new belt guard, managed to carefully get the runout in the motor down to tolerance, and got the spindle back to running within <.0015" runout. I replaced the bearings in the motor, as well as in the spindle. To finish it, I touched up the paint, but there is a big crack through the head cover behind the variable speed knob that the previous owner brazed back, but didn't get it all. There is by means enough solid metal to around it as only the actuator rests against it for the front pulley. I also took apart the Jacob's chuck (1/2") and cleaned/re-greased it. Starts right up on lowest and highest speeds, sounds smooth as can be!
I got lucky on this one as the production table is almost free of peck marks!
In addition to the on/off switch, there is a foot switch for ease of use that can be seen next to the base.
The old run capacitor in the motor is replaced with a new one that won't give you cancer should one accidentally lick it.
